Notes on the summer garden: thrips, slugs, spider mites, and beetles were a problem, along with several different types of fungus. . .but overall it was a good summer. I learned how to identify the caterpillar of a swallowtail butterfly, but too late to save those feeding on the fennel (I picked them off and drowned them!). The ageratum has taken over this month, but the crysanthemums are looking pretty good, too.
