More butterflies, new blooms

Many of the flowering plants are past their prime by this time of the summer. but there have been a few surprise blooms, like this one on the St. Johns Wort.

The knock-out rose has been holding its own - and the August Beauty gardenia has one beautiful bloom.

The garden bench with it's overflowing pot of impatiens is a relaxing place to watch the birds.

Another bonus from the Lowe's 50% off rack - a yellow canna lily.

I've been stalking the butterflies for the last couple of weeks, hoping to get some good pictures. The Tiger swallowtail hasn't stayed in place long enough, but I did get a picture of the spicebush swallowtail and the silver-spotted skipper.
