The influence of time

Pagoda Dogwood after the rain, showing signs of the coming of autumn.

"Gardeners celebrate the influence of time. If we have had a late cold spring followed by a desiccating drought, autumn may be the most soft and golden for years; one poor season will sooner or later be compensated for by another." - Susan Hill and Rory Stuart, Reflections from a Garden, 1995

It has been a hot, dry summer.  I look forward to a soft and golden autumn.

That is a very pretty photo of the dogwood after a nice rain. There are signs of autumn coming here, as well. My beautyberry is getting ready for fall. I am so ready, too!

Yes, Ginny, I'm looking forward to autumn, too! Cool days and little humidity, wouldn't that be grand? This has been a year for the record books, hasn't it? The 'influence of time' is very true.

The humidity was so thick here the other day I could have sliced it up and served it as pie. I'm looking forward to cool days and even cooler nights! Beautiful photo!

Hi Ginny,
A really lovely photo of the dogwood, and what a nice, reflective passazge to go with it.
Take care

Hi Ginny. What a pretty image. I have not noticed the Pagoda Dogwoods berries turning here yet on my walks. They are loaded with berried this year though. It will be nice to have some cooler weather soon but I am one that hates to see summer end even with all of the Fall beauty around. We could use that rain of your though.
Have a wonderful weekend.

Hi Ginny,

I am looking forward to fall too after our hot and dry summer. It is my favorite season of the year :-)

PS. Thank you so much for your thoughtful comment from my 'Gracie' post.

A wise quote Ginny... nothing ever stays the same. It is fall like here lately and I love the cooler weather. We finally have had a couple of good rainy days with more coming! It is wonderful after such a dry summer. I hope cool rainy days come your way soon. ;>)

Such a beautiful photo of the maple leaves! Our summer was brutally hot and with few exceptions, dry, dry, dry. My garden and I are both ready to slip into autumn and just rest.
