"Lightness in Autumn" for Garden Bloggers' Muse Day

The sun is down, the air is blue,
And soon the fingers will be, too,
But there are children to appease
With ducking in those leafy seas.

from "Lightness in Autumn" by Robert Fitzgerald

My oldest grandson having fun in  the leaves with our sweet dog Bear,  Fall 2007
Wishing all children and children at heart a chance to "duck in those leafy seas".

Thanks to Carol at Sweet Home and Garden Chicago for hosting Garden Bloggers' Muse Day on the 1st of each month.

Ginny that looks like such fun there - even Bear looks as if he is laughing in that picture.

that reminds me so much of a "leafy sea" picture of my daughter at about your grandson's age. those are such good times, aren't they?

I love your photo and poem! The look your grandson was giving Bear was precious!

It got colder than it had been last evening, getting down into the lower 20s this morning. I went out with a long sleeve shirt, sweatshirt, and a jacket on in the evening to gather some seeds. I was cold, but there were a bunch of neighbor kids and a dad out playing football in the street, and most of the kids had short sleeves on! They didn't look cold, though.

That was one of my fondest childhood memories. You don't see kids doing it so much anymore. Good to see the cutie above having a big smile and enjoying the fall.
