Hope

HOPE
–noun
the feeling that what is wanted can be had or that events will turn out for the best.

I would like for all of you to hope with me.  If you pray, I ask you to pray with me.
As I write this my brother is having surgery for a malignant brain tumor.  No matter how successful the surgery, some of the tumor will remain - it's that kind of tumor.   But we are full of hope - for successful surgery, for a swift recovery from surgery, for successful chemo and radiation treatment with minimal side effects.

One of my hopes for the coming days is that my brother is able to spend time at our family house by the lake, sitting on the porch and feeling surrounded by God's loving arms. It's a healing place.  I took the photos in the slideshow below early Sunday morning, a few days after he was diagnosed, when our family gathered there in support.  We are now gathered at the hospital - waiting, hoping, praying.

Dear Ginny, Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time. My own brother was diagnosed with this fourteen years ago and recovered fully.

We will certainly hope along with you, and pray for you and your family as well. Your lakeside photos are so beautiful and peaceful. I hope that your brother and family will soon be enjoying the serenity of that beautiful place.

I hope that your simple wish is granted. Your slide show has convinced me that it is definitely a healing place to be after a surgery. May your brother be well soon.

Dear Ginny, I am so distressed to read this news of your brother's illness. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this very difficult time. Modern treatments are improving all the time and, with the loving support of his friends and family, I have great hope that a full recovery will be the outcome for your brother.

Ginny, I did a post called I Need Your Help in which I asked for thoughts, prayers, and cards for the 5 year old daughter of a friend about whom I had done a previous post. Her name is Tara and she has leukemia. I truly believe that all the positive energy created around the world by garden bloggers' kind responses to my post had a tremendous positive effect. Tara is in remission. My hope is that my telling you this story will give you hope from knowing that peoples' prayers are out there for your brother too.

I don't know if you follow Susan J Tweit's blog Walking Nature Home. Her husband has had a brain tumour removed. What stays in my mind is when she describes going to the oncologist - and her husband entertaining the staff, by showing that he has learned to juggle again. He is a sculptor, steadily working his way back to health, with the support of Quaker friends, and blog friends.

I hope your family is in a slightly easier, happier state - since I have come to this post a little late.

Ginny, I'm late to read your post, but pray that God will bring healing and fill you with hope. "May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him...." Romans 15:13

Dear Ginny, Yes, I do believe in the power of prayer, it sustains me in my every day. I know there is a God in Heaven who cares for each of his children in a deep and personal way. May your family feel of His love for you and may that love give you strength as you seek to understand God's will. Sending warmth and sunshine your way sweet friend.

Prayers for your brother.
I happened to be reading just earlier today about the healing power of being in natural surroundings. The house by the lake looks like a very healing place.
