Posing for the camera

I nearly melted Saturday as I tried to get some much needed weeding done -
but it was worth it to be in the garden when this black swallowtail visited the lantana.

Sunday was a good day - rain (hooray!), naps, and the birds posing for me.

I hope the weekend in your garden was restful and refreshing!

Ginny,

Those poor birds look like they are not having any fun.. It was hot in the garden on Saturday, I took one butterfly photo and came inside. Hope you got more rain than the 1/4 inch we got on Saturday night, everything else missed us.

Love all the house finches!! Getting those pictures would make enduring the heat worth it :-) Thanks for sharing!

Great shot of the Swallowtail! I know what you mean about melting. I'm trying to make sure I spend some time outside each day because soon it will be cold. But the extremes can be tough. Looking forward to mid-80s this week!

The rain on Sunday afternoon was glorious, wasn't it? I took a nice long nap to celebrate! Carla

The heat has been just awful this summer-glad you made it out for a bit.....though a nap is certainly a good way to spend an afternoon too!

The rain was welcome, wasn't it? Such a relief to hear it sinking into the earth ... I have completely neglected weeding because of the heat. I like the bird photos - nice feeders, too.

Great bird pictures! I've neglected my garden so long, I worked too on Saturday and it was hot, hot, hot! DH finally made me come inside. I had so much more work to do, I wish I could have worked till dark!

Dear Ginny, Love the cardinal pictures! Glad you are getting some relief with 80s and some rain. Send some here, please ... P. x

I marvel at how the wildlife endures this heat and keeps going...our robin has nested a third time and has a successful brood just hatched. She never wavers even in the heat to stay on that nest and care for her young.

The swallowtail was so thoughtful not only to pose for you but also to choose such a colorful flower! The cardinal should have looked in the mirror before going out, though... We are all rejoicing this year when anyone gets good weather--glad you had some rain on Sunday.
