A place to feed the soul

I was back at the family house on the lake this weekend - the second weekend in a row -
and the fall color seemed to be at its peak.
The morning light lit up the trees and the water.
This is the only time of year that diamonds appear to floating on the surface of the lake,
and it can be mesmerizing.
The leaves from the surrounding trees float by, just under the surface of the water,
and they, too, reflect the sun's rays.
We sat in the sun for much of the afternoon, enjoying the warmth and the peacefulness.  The lake was quiet, without the summer noise of boats and jet skis - though our neighbor in the cove brought out his jet ski just to charge the battery.  His constant companion always insists on going along for the ride.
As the sun set we enjoyed wine and candlelight on the porch.
Later we watched as the planes lifted off from the airport across the lake.
This place feeds my soul, especially at this time of year.

Do you have a place that feeds your soul?

Wow! It's hard to say much more, because the place and your photos are so breathtaking. Yes, we have a "cottage" north of our home which is a place of refuge--not much traffic, and time seems to stand still there. Thanks for your beautiful post!

The diamonds are priceless, and the leaf floating below the water's surface is an amazing capture.

I am very lucky to have the old farmstead here to feed my soul; I have never moved and hope to stay here for the rest of my life.

That is a lovely spot. I can see why you love it so.
My own backyard feeds my soul and I am so lucky.

What a beautiful place for a retreat. The fall foliage, the water. My batteries feel a little recharged just looking at the gorgeous photographs. Here we don't get much chance to get away, but fortunately we live in a place that feeds our soul, and for that I'm very grateful.

I can see why you love this place...the autumn colors and light are breathtaking. My garden feeds my soul, but I also love the local nature center I blogged about at Beautiful Wildlife Gardens. Climbing mountains and hiking the trails in the Adirondacks up N here is another incredible place to feed your soul.

A lovely post. The place that really feeds my soul, and unfortunately haven't been to for many years, is Dartmoor. Always took a tent and sleeping back, hiked deep into the centre, and stayed for a few days away from everything.

I keep returning to these pictures.I feel good when I look at them, especially the first ones.
Ginny, I want to thank you for your comment on my post about killing our forest. One of the worst parts of the story is that that person who did it lives in our neighborhood and used to walk his own dog in that forest. When prices on timber went up he swapped another property for this piece of land with the only purpose - to harvest trees and sell them to China... Thanks again!
