Waking from a nap?

My garden thinks Spring is coming soon.  I would say that it's waking up, but I don't think it ever fully went to sleep - it's just been napping due to the mild winter we're having.  I hope we aren't in for a big freezing surprise - after all, we have a history of February and March snowstorms.

The Professor Sargeant camellia (seen in the picture above) is in full bloom.  It says winter to me, as it always blooms through the winter months.  But the other blooms and emerging foliage I saw Saturday say Spring is coming. They encourage me to think past the dreary days.
Vinca blooming in a container
Crocus emerging

Hyacinths blooming
Daffodils budding
Hellebore bud nestled in new foliage
And the sight of this little fellow always cheers me up.  Goldfinches aren't year round inhabitants this far east, so I only see them in the late winter months.  Their coats aren't as bright gold as they are in the summer, but they're still sunny!

I'm hearing thunder as I type!! Hopefully this storm will bring the 1-2" being forecast. The goldfinches are a mainstay here in my garden and lately they've been so loud and happy. I added a new type of bird seed that they really like. My husband gave it to me for Christmas and it's some fancy kind filled with yummy nuts that don't have to be shelled!

We're still feeling like spring here...we haven't had much winter at all (not that I'm complaining!) Enjoy your blooms :)

How interesting to see all your spring blooms that i wouldn't see until late March or April...goldfinches live here year round in my NE neck of the woods...

How exciting to see the crocus and hyacinths coming up. Mine are not yet coming up, and I'm anxious! I, too, hope we aren't in for a bad-weather surprise!

I heard the birds chirping this morning and it seemed like a touch of spring. But we still have a blanket of several inches of snow covering all the plants. Thanks for the glimpses of spring!

Looks like you are a couple of weeks ahead of us Ginny. Still waiting and hoping the snow doesn't arrive but like your part of the world it can arrive in February or March.

It has been a mild winter hasn't it? Nothing like '76 that's for sure! I love Goldfinches too. There's nothing else like them.

At the rate we're going, we will be seeing hummingbirds and butterflies soon! Ginny, I see that you have be blogging as infrequently as I have lately. I've been trying to get back into the habit, but life keeps getting in the way! :) Carla
