The first heralds of Spring

The desert shall rejoice and blossom;
like the crocus it shall blossom abundantly,
and rejoice with joy and singing.

-   Isaiah 35: 1-2

I don't think there has ever been a year when I was happier to see blooms signally the coming of Spring.  These beautiful crocuses were spotted in my parents' front yard.

The daffodils border the neighbor's yard.  The dogwood and sassafras trees that sheltered them are gone, but I'm thankful to see the daffodils blooming as they have every other Spring.

The hellebore looks a little stressed from the cold, but it's full of buds ready to open.  There wasn't enough light for a picture without the flash in this dark corner by the fence.

Every year I plant a few more daffodils, can't get enough of them. These are lovely photos of the crocus. I don't plant as many of them because the squirrels dig them up and carry them away. I see hellebores on so many blogs. Must be a very popular plant.
