On the second day of Christmas . . .

On this second day of Christmas there were no turtle doves, but we did receive the glorious gift of a snowstorm.  We only consider this type of storm a gift when it falls on a day when we aren't required to travel - and today was such a day.  I have so many pictures that I want to share that  I've put them in a slideshow instead of posting them individually.  A click anywhere above will take you to the slideshow on Picasa.
For those of us in the South, this snow is quite an event.  We were glued to the weather forecasts all week, not knowing how seriously it would disrupt plans to gather with family on Christmas Day.  We are thankful that our plans for Christmas Day weren't disrupted, and that the plans we had for today can be rescheduled without much difficulty.   We've had the luxury of staying home, enjoying snow cream, a warm fire, good books,  watching the birds out the window, and walking through the neighborhood.  On this second day of Christmas we continue to rejoice and celebrate, as we will until Epiphany. The gifts of the season are many and we are incredibly thankful.
May the twelve days of Christmas bring you joy.  Remember that the celebration has just begun!

Hi Ginny. Oh, it was a beautiful snow at that. I like the big fluffy ones that stick to everything. Enjoy your Christmas and Happy New Year to you!

You really got some amazing photos from the storm. I have been watching it in your area on the news with amazement. Everywhere is getting snow but here, where it is so common at this time of year. Snow is on the ground but this storm missed us.

I really like your slide show presentation too.

I wasn't able to open the slideshow, but I'm sure the problem is my computer. :( Snow in the south is definitely an unexpected gift. I'm glad you were able to enjoy it at home instead of on the roads.

Great slide show Ginny. We do get woodpeckers visiting on occasions, but those Cardinals are something else. Have a good New Year. Alistair

PS I am jealous of your snow...hard to believe we in Washington DC barely got a dusting throughout this entire east-coast event!!

It's fun to hear how exciting the snowstorm was for you. Here in Minnesota we have been having a storm every week for the past 5 weeks, which makes it less than exciting. Thank you for reminding me to appreciate the beauty of it!
