"O the green things growing, the green things growing,
The faint sweet smell of the green things growing!
- Dinah Maria Mulock Craik, Green Things Growing
The green in the garden grows by the minute in the month of April.
"New Dawn", the climbing rose, is full and promising.
The fiddleheads of the ferns stand proudly waiting to unfurl their fronds.
The spearmint and peppermint are filling up a bed once home to several other herbs.
By the end of the summer flowers will surround the birdbath with color, as it did last summer.
But now the new green growth is fresh and peaceful and welcome.
The knock-out rose will be blooming soon
and the green of sassafras leaves will stand out against the blue sky.
The trees just leafing out are myriad shades of green, pink, and white
with the dogwoods at their peak.
I feel as though Spring has blown me a kiss.
Do you feel it, too?

Ginny,
Those mints look pretty happy in that spot. Not even noticed our mints yet. The sassafras blooms I have seen along the road, sadly I have not had the time to investigate any of it yet.
Wow, your fiddleheads are up and unfurling! Mine haven't even started. I'm still at the Crocus stage, but things are happening fast now! Enjoy!
Loving it!
I do, I do feel it...I got the fever bad!!
Ah, lots of green things growing in your garden. I can see the promise of things to come! Spring is such an exciting time of year.
I do! I think Spring is blowing kisses all around. Although I've heard a rumor that ol' man Winter is threatening a cameo appearance here this evening, I suspect Spring will push him out of the way quickly. I love this time of year, and your greenery looks as though it's holding tons of summer promise!

Hi Ginny, While spring is blowing you kisses, she is all but ignoring me. It is still cold and brown here. It is wonderful to visit your green garden and see the dogwood in flower. And I love all the tall trees that border your garden. They add atmosphere.
P.S. If you run into spring again, tell her we are really missing her here in Ontario and ask her to send a little of that love this way!
The dogwood blooms just bowled me over, oh how absolutely beautiful. I'm glad Spring is treating you well, it gives me hope that she will arrive here sometime soon. The picture of your garden is just stunning, beautiful landscaping.
Marvellous, and you have perfectly pruned New Dawn to give a wonderful show in Summer.
my favorite always....an unfurling frond :)
Yes, I feel it! Love, love, love the dogwood!
I feel it too! The green is everywhere and so lovely! I just adore fern fiddleheads. What a great shot. And your mint photo makes them look down right pleasant - not the least bit invasive. ;)
Lovely, lovely, lovely. I'm sure I could smell the green things growing in your yard, too. :)
Hi Ginny! You have such beautiful pictures. Glad spring found you! We still have a LONG wait here, so it's nice to see all your pretty flowers!
Hi Ginny! Love the dogwood blooms. I envy you your spring! It's my favorite season.
